Ionair uses air purification technology that decomposes and neutralizes substances (viruses, VOCs, PM, odors) floating in indoor spaces, providing a human-friendly environment while significantly reducing the air conditioning costs for medium to large-scale spaces through energy savings. This process enables the conversion of air that was previously exhausted into reusable air, achieving "reutilization of exhaust air (heat recovery)" and allowing air conditioning to be maintained at low airflow, resulting in energy savings that can account for 30-40% of annual electricity usage for air conditioning. In Japan, a lot of electricity is consumed to make the humid, hot summer air and the dry, cold winter air comfortable. However, most of this air is exhausted outside after being used once. By utilizing Ionair, energy savings can be achieved through air analysis by sensors and optimal air purification based on the measured data using AI. This technology balances the maintenance of comfortable air with significant reductions in air conditioning costs, making it highly effective for large spaces where many people gather. Ionair Japan Co., Ltd. (ionair Group base: Switzerland, Japan office base: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Beda Weibel) has collaborated with the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (Fraunhofer IBP), the largest applied research institution in the field of science and technology in Europe, to verify the effectiveness of the air purification system (AQS: Air Quality System) manufactured and sold by ionair in suppressing airborne viruses. It has been demonstrated that by variably adjusting and dispersing the corona discharge type oxygen cluster ions/bipolar ions generated by ionair products, a reduction effect of 99.5% can be achieved. This effect is shown to be effective against the "novel coronavirus" through verification using Phi6 bacteriophages*1. We hope this information will be recognized as a preventive measure against the novel coronavirus. Ionair will continue to strive through verification research and development to contribute to society.
